{"id":1164,"date":"2012-11-26T13:13:32","date_gmt":"2012-11-26T13:13:32","guid":{"rendered":"\/\/www.computerchemist.com\/wordpress\/?page_id=2"},"modified":"2012-11-26T13:13:32","modified_gmt":"2012-11-26T13:13:32","slug":"about","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/computerchemist.com\/wordpress\/index.php\/about\/","title":{"rendered":"About"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>(information is from the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Computerchemist\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Wikipedia entry of computerchemist<\/a>, retrieved 14\/Dec\/2022)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Biography<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Pearson&#8217;s love of electronic music started as a teenager when he first heard <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tangerine_Dream\">Tangerine Dream<\/a>&#8216;s Cloudburst Flight.<sup><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Computerchemist#cite_note-TDFZ_Interview-1\">[1]<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the early 1980s he played synthesiser in a number of rock bands, including Lichfield UK-based Monteagle with founder <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mark_Thwaite\">Mark Thwaite<\/a>,<sup><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Computerchemist#cite_note-TDFZ_Interview-1\">[1]<\/a><\/sup> as well as simultaneously composing his own solo music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2003 he had sold all of his synthesisers and had moved over almost completely to a virtual instrument environment using <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cubase\">Cubase<\/a> SX3, only using the guitar as a &#8220;real&#8221; instrument.<sup><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Computerchemist#cite_note-TDFZ_Interview-1\">[1]<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since 2006 he has issued a number of albums on his own label &#8220;Terrainflight&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His music has been likened to &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Berlin_School_of_electronic_music\">Berliner Schule\/Berlin School<\/a> style jazz-rock&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bruce Gall of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/w\/index.php?title=ARFM&amp;action=edit&amp;redlink=1\">ARFMs<\/a> &#8220;Sunday Synth&#8221; has remarked on the crossover style of his playing,<sup><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Computerchemist#cite_note-ARFM_Review-2\">[2]<\/a><\/sup> invoking comparisons to electronic artists <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tangerine_Dream\">Tangerine Dream<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jean-Michel_Jarre\">Jean-Michel Jarre<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Klaus_Schulze\">Klaus Schulze<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Kraftwerk\">Kraftwerk<\/a>, and the progressive sounds of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Pink_Floyd\">Pink Floyd<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/David_Gilmour\">David Gilmour<\/a> solo work, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ash_Ra_Tempel\">Ash Ra Tempel<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mike_Oldfield\">Mike Oldfield<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Steve_Hackett\">Steve Hackett<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Brian_Eno\">Brian Eno<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/King_Crimson\">King Crimson<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During April 2008, <a href=\"https:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/SynGate\">SynGate<\/a> started producing re-issues of the first two albums <em>atmospheric<\/em> (2006) and <em>icon one<\/em>(2007), however the agreement was short-lived and SynGate ceased production of the SynGate re-issues in June 2009. The original terrainflight editions are still available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Guest musician Robin Hayes played cello on the third release <em>landform<\/em>(2008), the first time a guest musician had appeared on a computerchemist solo album.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Uwe_Cremer\">Uwe Cremer<\/a>, otherwise known as Level Pi, was the guest musician on the fourth album, <em>aqual measure<\/em>(2009), and played guitar on the title track.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A collaboration project started in July 2010 between Computerchemist and &#8220;Nemesis&#8221;, ex-<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hawkwind\">Hawkwind<\/a> dancer and singer has produced several tracks, some of which were initially released for free under <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Creative_Commons\">Creative Commons<\/a> licensing which had been available on the computerchemist website for free download, with a full album promised at a later date entitled <em>Chronicles of Future Present<\/em>. The link as of August 2011 to this project is no longer active. The single and first track <em>Sky Turned Black<\/em>, a rework of <em>Mirage<\/em> from Aqual Measure, was however released on a charity compilation in October 2012 entitled <em>Space Rock: The Compilation<\/em> on bandcamp on the &#8220;Sound for Good&#8221; label.<sup><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Computerchemist#cite_note-SPTC-3\">[3]<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Computerchemist was featured through the month of August 2010 on <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/WDIY\">WDIY<\/a>&#8216;s Galactic Travels show with Bill Fox, as the &#8220;Special Focus&#8221;, where each album was consecutively played back-to-back each week.<sup><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Computerchemist#cite_note-WDIY-4\">[4]<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A different approach was taken for his fifth album, <em>Music for Earthquakes<\/em>(2011), involving the conversion of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Seismograph\">seismograph<\/a> readings into musical form. It was inspired by the 4.8 <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Richter_scale\">richter scale<\/a> earthquake in Hungary in early 2011, and featured on the national Hungarian news channel Hir24<sup><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Computerchemist#cite_note-5\">[5]<\/a><\/sup> and Hungarian English Language news site pestiside.hu<sup><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Computerchemist#cite_note-pestiside-6\">[6]<\/a><\/sup> shortly afterwards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His sixth double release album, and second collaboration, launched January 2013, <em>Signatures I.<\/em> and <em>Signatures II.<\/em> feature the Hungarian drummer <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/w\/index.php?title=Zsolt_Gal%C3%A1ntai&amp;action=edit&amp;redlink=1\">Zsolt Gal\u00e1ntai<\/a>, formerly of the Hungarian metal band <a href=\"https:\/\/hu.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ossian_(magyar_egy%C3%BCttes)\">Ossian<\/a>.<sup><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Computerchemist#cite_note-zsolt-7\">[7]<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A single track was specially composed for the &#8220;Sound for Good&#8221; charity release <em>The Human Condition \u2013 Dedications to Philip K. Dick<\/em> entitled <em>The Pink Beams of Light, He Said<\/em>, published in March 2013.<sup><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Computerchemist#cite_note-PKD-8\">[8]<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The collaboration project &#8220;Audio Cologne Project&#8221; again with <a href=\"https:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Uwe_Cremer\">Uwe Cremer<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/w\/index.php?title=Zsolt_Gal%C3%A1ntai&amp;action=edit&amp;redlink=1\">Zsolt Gal\u00e1ntai<\/a> featuring on drums was released in summer 2013.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since 2013, Pearson has been producing several one-off tracks for compilations and collaborations, notably with artists such as <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cousin_Silas\">Cousin Silas<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/w\/index.php?title=Altocirrus&amp;action=edit&amp;redlink=1\">Altocirrus<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2018, he compiled a series of six CD albums (for which he appeared or produced tracks in various guises on each album) for the radio <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Spreaker\">Spreaker<\/a> show <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/w\/index.php?title=Aquarian_Moons&amp;action=edit&amp;redlink=1\">Aquarian Moons<\/a>.<sup><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Computerchemist#cite_note-AM-9\">[9]<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2019, he produced his first analogue-only synth album for over twenty years, <em>Volcan Dreams<\/em>, using exclusively Korg Volca analogue sound modules and external guitar effects. <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/w\/index.php?title=Zsolt_Gal%C3%A1ntai&amp;action=edit&amp;redlink=1\">Zsolt Gal\u00e1ntai<\/a> guested on drums for one track, and <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/w\/index.php?title=Chris_Gill_(musician)&amp;action=edit&amp;redlink=1\">Chris Gill<\/a> from <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/w\/index.php?title=Band_Of_Rain&amp;action=edit&amp;redlink=1\">Band Of Rain<\/a> played guitar on the opening track Volcan Plain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In January 2020, <em>That Which Prevails<\/em> was released, followed shortly afterwards by three retrospective album compilations <em>Origins I-III<\/em> which were compiled from surviving tapes from Pearson&#8217;s output between 1980 and 2003.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pearson&#8217;s first motion picture soundtrack for the feature film <em>The Fort<\/em><sup><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Computerchemist#cite_note-FORT-10\">[10]<\/a><\/sup> was released as an album in January 2021. It won an award at the Berlin Indie Film Festival in March 2022 for &#8216;Best Original Score&#8217;. <sup><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Computerchemist#cite_note-BIFF2022-11\">[11]<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2021 also introduced a new collaboration partnership with <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/w\/index.php?title=RadioRay&amp;action=edit&amp;redlink=1\">RadioRay<\/a>, a singer\/songwriter who has notably played in <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Alan_Davey_(musician)\">Alan Davey<\/a>&#8216;s post-<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hawkwind\">Hawkwind<\/a> band <em>The Psychedelic Warlords<\/em>.
